Notes on Story

Summary: Black Wolf (Jacob) is a Native American warrior whose tribe has always valued strength of character in both genders. Bella is a white girl who was captured as a child. Now a young woman known as White Swan, she is a slave who is mistreated by one of her owners. Black Wolf will come to know White Swan, who always has the strength to stand up for her rights and the rights of the other slaves in the tribe. In time, their mutual admiration may grow into something much more...


Author's note: Instead of using REAL Native American tribes and running the risk of writing something that won't do them justice and may offend them, I've created fictional tribes. However, let it be known that each real existing tribe in history had their own social systems and way of life...some were even more sophisticated than most.


Some tribes were even known to have raided other tribes or the dwellings of settlers and took not only various items, but also people to keep as slaves or to trade for goods to others. That being said, my inspiration and knowledge for this story comes from what I've read in historical fictional novels, seen in films and from my own personal study of shamanism, animal worship and various North American tribes (yes, that includes Mexico and some of Canada :-P).


Also: This is a "remake" of a story I once wrote for another fanfiction website that had nothing to do with the Twilight or Jacob/Bella universe. I've been sitting on this for over a year, deciding if I wanted to redo it to fit Jacob and Bella and have finally decided to go through with it. So if anyone was a fan of the Roswell TV show and read fanfic about that, you might have read my other version then. On that site, I went by the name of Shadowlynx too, so hope that clears up any confusion. ;-)
